“What Have You Been Up To?”
Sometimes I look at all of the things I want to accomplish in life and I put myself into overdrive. It gets hard to shut my brain off. It’s as if I don’t have a sleep mode. I have to remind myself to pause and look at the things I have accomplished. That is sort of like the snooze button for me. It gives me the opportunity to reflect for just a little while, so I have the rest I need to get up and going. Now, is the perfect time for me to do so. Over the past year, I have had the opportunity to travel and really experience NYC, became a brand ambassador for 2-6ers Apparel, and created and published my own app, Cloud 910, in the Google Play Store.
When 2018 rolled in, I found myself in a position in which it was imperative to really think about where I wanted to take this journey. I became so hungry and passionate about building a legacy for my son. I wanted to really have something that I built, myself, to give to him. More importantly, I wanted him to see the process, the good, the bad, the ups, the downs, the payoffs, the bumps in the road, the hard work; all of it. It takes me back to that old saying, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” I think he’s getting it π.
So now, I am sitting here reflecting on what I have done so far in 2018. You know how, sometimes people you haven’t seen or spoken to in a while will ask, “So, what have you been up to?” My typical response is usually something like, “trying to squeeze the most out of life” or “I’ve just been on my grind;” I never really fully process that question. Now is the time.
So far in 2018, I have done the following and it’s only April:
•Started website, blog/vlog
•Earned Scrum Fundamentals Certification
•Completed Computer Science Course online via Stanford University’s School of Engineering
•Earned Yellow Belt SIGMA Certification
•Started Itz All Rosey, LLC
•Networked, networked, networked
•Began developing itz all Rosey digital mag
•Got first celebrity interview for mag
•Modeled for Phly Paper Gang
•Secured Phly Paper Gang, Itz All Rosey Swimwear Collaboration
•Successfully completed PHLY Swimwear Casting Call with partner
•Filmed, Produced, and Edited Behind the Scenes footage of PHLY Casting Call
•Began developing Itz All Rosey brand
•Modeled for a brand collab including RIZR Footwear
•Got Itz All Rosey Documenting the Life Cycle of This Rose, approved and published on IMDb
These minor accomplishments are the foundation of my greater success to come. I hope to serve as an inspiration for other single moms out there with full time jobs and even fuller dreams. π✌πΎ

Ugly BLACK Girl
The things I would get picked on about growing up, are the same things people compliment me on today. Those are the things I have grown to love most about myself.
Growing up, kids would make fun of my big smile and jumbled up teeth. Now, I love my smile and people say it makes them feel good. Kids made fun of my dark skin, calling me names like blacky, tar-baby, toast, coal, midnight, etc. I remember how they would pass notes around the classroom laughing. By the time the note would make its way to me, I would be overwhelmed with humility only to open up the note to see a big black spot, scribbled in black crayon, with an arrow pointing at it saying, “My name is Carrie.”
I have to admit, it definitely wasn’t easy back then. All I wanted, was for people to accept me and treat me kind. I couldn’t understand why the kids were so mean to me. Those events had given me a complex about myself. I felt so insecure and my self-esteem was basically non-existent.
Over time, a long time......like, I had already reached adulthood, I learned to love myself. Although, that was a rough time in my childhood, I’m grateful to have experienced it. It shaped me into the person I am today. I’m proud to say, these days, I love my dark skin and larger than life smile!!
